NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (NUST-SEECS), is the new name of NUST Institute of Information Technology (NIIT) which was launched on self-finance basis in April 1999 as a constituent college of NUST. The institute has achieved groundbreaking success and received enthusiastic response from the student community. The number of students registered with it figures at well over 500. NIIT' culmination into NUST-SEECS chronicles an enviable history leading to its prestigious stature in the phenomenally burgeoning world of IT.

The success of SEECS is majorly due to the highly skilled faculty members, including a large number of PHD's. The school is going through an extensive faculty development program and aims to enhance the strength of its Doctorate faculty by 2010. The school owes its superiority to these highly skilled and dedicated faculty members. SEECS offers graduate courses in the field of Information Technology, Communication System Engineering and Electronics Engineering. Recently, the institute has been upgraded with the transfer of Telecommunication Engineering and Software Engineering departments. The NUST Technology Incubation Centre has also been made a constituency of SEECS. The institute offers Masters and PHD programs for its students, and recently collaborated with IBM to open a Linux Competency Centre.

ASWAN

THE SEECS ACM Student Chapter has established the ACM Student Welfare Association NUST , to support deserving fellow students. ASWAN was established to provide services to the students of SEECS, who for financial reasons can continue their studies. ASWAN is a noble initiative to support these students. ASWAN aims to support students who are facing finanical and psycological problems. The most important contribution that our chapter gives to our school is the establishment of ASWAN i.e. ACM Student Welfare Association NUST. This association is a subsidiary of ACM Student Chapter at SEECS and has been established to support the brilliant and bright students who cannot pursue their studies due to reasons such as financial constraints etc. Apart from its role as a vital forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and discoveries, ACM Student Chapter NUST-SEECS has a great concern for fellow students. It feels its responsibility to provide every possible help required by the deserving students. That is the reason ASWAN was formed under the umbrella of ACM NUST-SEECS Student Chapter. ASWAN is purely based on pro-bono-public. With the objective of student welfare, we have braced ourselves in order to play the role of sheet-anchor to provide assistance to the students who do not have the resources to realize their academic ambitions.

Objectives of SEECS ACM Student Chapter

  • To provide the students of SEECS with the opportunity to fully utilize the benefits of ACM

  • To induce the habits of thinking and research in the students by exposing them to new technologies and trends through seminars and workshops
  • To facilitate the SEECS students in acquiring knowledge that will become the foundation upon which they can build their future
